Yes, you did read the title correctly. Today I am sharing my beautiful perspectives on the creativity of camels. No need to hunt for your glasses and no need to get concerned about my state of mind post World Childless Week.
Whilst I am sure that camels in themselves are creative, I actually want to focus on how camels can help us become more creative. However, not any old camel can increase your creativity.
It takes a very special camel …
Camels came to my aid back in May 2018 when Andrew and I delivered a PechaKucha during Fertility Fest. Not only was it the first time that either of us had performed a PechaKucha, when Jessica Hepburn asked up if we wanted to take part it was the first time we’d heard of PechaKucha.
That didn’t stop me from agreeing to take part immediately: not only did I want to support Jessica I didn’t want to show my ignorance!
You can find out about this brilliant presentation format in this PechaKucha about PechaKucha.
I am not 100% convinced the presenter pronounces PechaKucha properly: however, I can forgive him because I am not fluent in Japanese!
When I discovered the PechaKucha format was about using images and not text on slides I realised that most of my presentations have been PechaKucha in spirit (if not timing) for years. In fact, both of the talks that I delivered on behalf of the Society Of Genealogists at “Who Do You Think You Are? Live” were PechaKucha’s. They simply over ran by 34 minutes!
Back to the creativity of camels.
The theme for the PechaKucha was “Is there more to life than motherhood?”
Andrew and I decided that we wanted to produce something upbeat and wasn’t about our story. We also wanted to deliver something very different than any of the other presenters, all of whom would be inspiring.
For several weeks I pondered over the content. I wasn’t worried about sticking to the strict time limit at all. I know that once I’d got the core concept of our PechaKucha the rest would fall into place.
Then I remembered about the creativity of camels. This was the result …
[Having recorded this specifically for this blog we’ve noticed that something has gone wrong with the timings. The 20 slides are supposed to progress every 20 seconds giving a total presentation duration of 6mins40seconds. This has ended up being 8minutes. We’ve got now idea where the extra 1min20 came from. However, it would explain why we weren’t gasping for breath at the end of it!]So, my beautiful perspective for today is that if you want to find the solution to an impossible situation you need to find your 18th camel. It will help you find that creative solution that may help you accept the unacceptable.

Be kind to yourself …
In Canbace friendship!
