Now that we are starting to embrace Christmas again, we thought that we would look to find some traditions that suit us from around the world. The obvious place to start is France, because that is where we currently spend most of our time.
The French do Christmas in a different way to the Anglo-Saxons. The idea of turkey at Christmas is not really a goer, although it is gaining some traction but not whole ones yet. Now I should say that we have a house in southwest France and traditions vary considerably depending on which region you’re in. Christmases in Alsace and Lorraine are very Germanic
So what else do the French do that is different to the “traditional” Anglo-Saxon Christmas? Well for starters Christmas Eve evening is the time when Families gather for a meal and to open presents.
