I’ve been stuck in my “childLESS is C***” existence for so long that I know that turning my mindset around is going to be a long process taking a step at a time. Whilst you can make sudden huge strides you don’t suddenly wake up one morning and say “WOW I’m here!” There is a lot of work that goes on in the background. As Tomas Edison once said, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”. So how do I move forward and fully embrace my new positive CANBACE status?
To be honest this caused me to stop and think for quite a while. You see I am a very logical creative person, or is that a very creative logical person? I’m not quite sure, hence my dilemma. My creative person, who wakes up at 3am with brilliant ideas, thought that I should “go with the flow and see what happens”. My logical person, who likes a plan and makes lists about making lists, wanted a map so it was easy know which step I should be taking a what time. MMMMMM I wonder if there is any middle ground where I nurture each part of my nature even though they seem diametrically opposed to each other.
Eventually I found a way, by creating my “one step at a time” route map that was also very creative ….
Hard-wiring my mind a step at a time
From my life coaching training I know that it takes time to “unlearn” bad habits and embrace new good habits. (Stop expecting to change your habit in 21 days) My logical side wanted to have a route map to follow so that I would always know that I was moving in the right direction. My creative side wanted something that inspired and was flexible. The solution?
The Canbace Diaries …. A befitting a diary I am going to blog every day starting yesterday. Each week I will follow the same daily theme (there’s my logical plan) which creatively uses the seven words that make up the CANBACE anacronym. The themes give me the flexibility to write what inspires me each week whilst it is a repetitive process, moving me toward fully embracing my CANBACE status a step at a time.
Creating my new existence (my progress)
A step at a time (proactive healing ideas)
New(s) and reviews (what’s happening within the community)
Beautiful perspectives (quotes and inspiration)
And now for something completely different (there is more to me than CANBACE)
Courageous Canbacers (guest blogs and links to other blogs)
Existence can be hard (packing your parachute)
Yesterday’s blog was all about my flash of inspiration, aided and abetted by Brandi Lytle, of Not So Mommy, and today I’m starting to think about my “step at a time” approach.
Canbacing a step at a time
Over the past two weeks I’ve come up with 10 tangible actions that I can take to help me embrace my CANBACE status a step at a time. Again, I’ve found a way to mix my need for a logical structure with a more creative side: I am sure there are loads of images that I can create and share on Social Media about them. In fact, I’ve already created an Infographic about all ten “steps”. I should stress here that they aren’t steps as in one is followed by two. They are more of an all-inclusive 10 steps that you can take in any order you chose. A little like Eric Morecambe’s piano playing – “all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!”
So what are the steps? Well here’s that Infographic I mentioned earlier. Over the coming weeks and months, I will be taking a deeper look into these ideas: it will be anyone’s guess which order I cover them in ?
My logical side is now extremely happy as I’ve got a couple of plans on how I will more forward AND how I will approach writing a blog a day. I have a step at a time strategy. However, my creative side is also beaming with joy as I can have a little fun and look at ways of making my structured plan a flexible and fluid blog enabling me to follow my inspiration. After all who would have thought that I would be including a Morecambe and Wise sketch in a blog about accepting the unacceptable a step at a time.
Now all I need to think about is tomorrow’s blog about “New(s) and Reviews” – where’s my list!
In CANBACE friendship!
If anything I have written resonates I’d love to hear from you in the comments. I appreciate that this can be a difficult subject to speak openly about so if you don’t want me to publish your comment on the website please let me know and I will keep your words private.

How brilliant that your new word has seven letters, just like the days of the week. And you will be covering a new topic related to each letter in CANBACE each new day. I loved the reference to the Morecambe and Wise sketch too. So funny! Wishing you all the best!

I know Sue – I couldn’t have planned that if I’d tried! I love the fact that every week I’ll be revisiting each latter of CANBACE. Such a great way to really live and breath my new, beautiful and courageous existence! As for Morecambe and Wise – I couldn’t resist, especially as “using all the right [insert word] but not necessarily in the right order” is a quote that Andrew and I frequently misuse!
