A healing rootle around the wood pile

Today’s proactive healing is related to our wood pile. Well when I say wood what I actually mean are the piles of branches we’ve chopped down over the last few years and dumped into the field to “season” before using on the fire.

“People love chopping wood. In this activity one immediately sees results.”

Personally, I have always loved chopping or moving wood. It was one of my tasks when I still lived at home. My mother used to say the wood (and coal) warmed us three times over. Once when moving it from the lorry to the wood shed. A second time resupplying the sitting room fire and the Aga. The third time was when it was actually burnt.

The trouble is that we had neither the time or the energy last summer to sort through the pile. So, during the long hot days of July and August the wood remained in situ.

A home for “beasties”

The grass started to grow up around it. Then the brambles thought they would join in the fun.

It became a favourite rootling ground for the pups. “There are ALWAYS beasties of some sort in that there pile!”
